He has over 35 years of experience in retail management, business development, sales, and financial operations. In his previously held position, he was the general manager of two world-renowned department stores. Please join us in welcoming Sean Furlong as a Director of Operations. Sean has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and over 7 years of experience in hospitality management. In his most recent position, Sean was the Front Office Manager at a prestigious hotel in Boston. He led the team to achieve a Forbes Five Star designation in daily operations for rooms, concierge, guest services and valet parking. Sean was also part of the hotel’s Task Force that established a best rooms operating procedure and labor standard for a new location and contributed Architecture and Interior Design Standards for future hotel buildings.

Janitronics Building Services is excited to announce that Hogar Angeles Felice, a shelter and service facility for 51 Developmentally Disabled Adults in the Dominican Republic, has received our in-kind donations. Thank you to our dedicated team of employees who organized this fabulous effort. Last month, we collected dozens of sheets, towels, soaps, toothpaste, toothbrushes, laundry detergent, and more to send to the shelter in the Dominican Republic. Our organization also purchased a brand-new water dispenser for the facility.

Janitronics Building Services is proud to announce that Joao Rodrigues has been promoted to Account Manager having started his janitorial career at 200 Clarendon almost 20 years ago. His career began as a Grounds Porter and was quickly promoted to Lead Day Porter within only 6 months because of his eagerness to exceed at his job and responsibilities. As Lead Day Porter, Joao assisted the Account Manager in daily operations, monitored the property for cleanliness and was responsible for assisting in managing all daytime activities.
Joao has continued to show enormous care for our clients, tenants, employees, and his colleagues. In 2014, Joao was promoted to Day Staff Manager and supervised dozens of employees for 200 Clarendon and Back Bay Station.
It was evident to our management team that Joao’s next move would be to oversee the night cleaning operations and he became Night Manager of 200 Clarendon and Back Bay Station. As Night Manager, he embraced the new responsibilities of payroll, project management, snow removal operations and acted as the liaison between the different departments.
As his experience grew so did his excitement to learn new tasks and soon became our Assistant Account Manager in 2019. His role was to supervise the day and night staff (over 80 employees) and manage additional projects at multiple locations. His hard work and effective management helped lead the charge of safety and wellness for his team during the COVID crisis.
During Joao’s career advancements he continued to thrive on training and education related to the Janitronics pursuit to expand our ESG and DEI awareness. He became a Fitwel Ambassador in 2020 and completed course studies earning the Corporate Sustainability Certificate at NYU Leonard N. Stern School of Business in January 2022. These courses provide participants with the ability to make a strong difference in their profession through ESG (environment, social, and governance), sustainable supply chain management, employee, and consumer engagement.
Joao immigrated from Cape Verde when he was 17 years old and is now married with 3 children. Joao continues to inspire all of us at Janitronics to maintain growth in our pursuit of excellence as individuals and as a company. Joao Rodrigues is the embodiment of Janitronics Building Services commitment to enhancing the clients we serve and the employees we are incredibly grateful to work with every day.

Jose Martinez is known for his friendly personality, helpfulness, and for always smiling. He recently offered to help a client with fitting very large and heavy equipment into an elevator, a task that is not part of his responsibilities. Everything arrived safely and without damage on the proper floor of the building, thanks to him and his team. Jimmy Nova has a very strong work ethic and has quickly acclimated to his new role as a grounds porter. According to one tenant, the outside of the building has never looked better. Janitronics Building Services is proud of Warehouse Manager, Rafael Moscat, for continuing to give back to the community through his engagement with the Stars baseball team. The Stars is a team for kids ages 6-18 in the Boston Area, who might not otherwise have access to play baseball. He has led this program for many years. Last week, Rafael and the Stars went to Cooperstown All-Star Village in New York for a baseball tournament for the 12-year-old age group. Over 60 teams from all over the country participated. The Stars also got to visit the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. Thank you to Rafael for your dedication to making a difference in our community.

Please join us in welcoming Felix Marty as a GMP Area Manager. He brings over 20 years of experience in the cleaning services industry to Janitronics Building Services with a strong background in Management services. He has a broad understanding of Life Sciences and a detailed knowledge of GMP Cleaning. In previous positions, he oversaw the building maintenance for 53 malls and was an Operations Manager for 7 years for a different client. His responsibilities included managing 75 client accounts, supervising 3 area managers, and conducting payroll. Felix is also OSHA Certified and Trilingual (English, Spanish, and Portuguese).

Janitronics Building Services is pleased to welcome Ted Kyranos to our team as the Vice President of the Life Science Division. He previously managed multiple cross functional teams to exceed targeted objectives. Ted will be responsible for our overall Life Science expansion with a focus in relationship building, personnel management and team development. With his extensive experience in regulatory compliance, financial controls, development and implementation of metric driven programs, Ted will assist in optimizing efficiencies while maximizing resources.
As a subject matter expert for GMP cleaning, disinfection and critical environments, Ted will also assist our team in building technical knowledge, curriculum development, employee training and business development for our existing and future service offerings.

Janitronics Building Services was proud to sponsor the 2021 Buccaneer Baseball and Men’s Soccer Annual Golf Outing on Friday, August 6th, at the Crosswinds Golf Club in Plymouth, Massachusetts. The tournament was an event filled with friends and Alumni including, Janitronics Building Services Vice President of Operations, Tim Cullinan. Tim joined Ryan Dessert and Wade McGilvray from CBRE, and Barry Paskievich from Lincoln Property Company in playing all 18 holes followed by a stunning buffet dinner and raffles. All proceeds from the golf tournament went directly to Maritime’s baseball and soccer programs.
On a rainy day in July, BOMA Boston Members and other industry colleagues gathered at Pine Hills for the Annual Golf Tournament. Janitronics Building Services’ foursome included Matt Quinn, Tim Cullinan, Aashish Patel from Mimecast and Tanner Murphy from Boston Properties. After only a few weeks at Janitronics Building Services, Angela Wilhelmsen has earned her designation as a Fitwel Ambassador. With this designation, she can provide our client partners with valuable information on how to keep their buildings as healthy for the occupants as possible. Angela now joins our team of over a dozen Janitronics Building Services Managers who are part of the Healthy Buildings movement with Fitwel.
Janitronics Building Services is proud of the commitment and the infinite care that Rafael Moscat has given to his community. When he is not at the office, he spends his time organizing The Stars baseball league. It is specifically for kids 6-18, who might not be able to play baseball without this league. After last year’s season was postponed due to COVID, he has worked incredibly hard to organize this season for over 150 kids and 14 teams. The season officially started June 26th and will continue until Labor Day. To kick off the season, Rafael and one of his coaches, Geovanny Ortiz, enjoyed a fabulous day at Fenway Park.

Iris Sanquintin is the personification of the American Dream. Karen Haley has joined Janitronics as the Account Manager for Bay Colony Corporate Center and the Winter Street properties. Karen has a complete background in facilities management, most recently as Building and Grounds Manager at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Before this role Karen has held many positions within the cleaning industry and brings superior knowledge and expertise in Client Services, Contract Management, Employee Training and Employee Relations.

Medardo Landaverde joins Janitronics Building Services as an Area Manager to work with our excellent Operations Team. For over 10 years he worked at all levels of the Harvard University Facilities Team most recently as a Building Facilities Manager. Since starting out as a Day Porter many years ago Medardo has proven his knowledge of the cleaning industry and has been promoted several times with his previous employer. We welcome Medardo to the Janitronics Team and look forward to working with him in his new role.

Throughout the pandemic, ISSA has kept a close eye on the latest updates and developments from public health agencies around the world to ensure we can effectively serve our members who are instrumental to protecting public health and safety.
On April 5, 2021, the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) revised its guidelines related to cleaning and disinfecting against COVID-19. We would like to provide additional clarification around these updates and offer clarity on how ISSA and the Global Biorisk Advisory Council™ (GBAC) are responding.
The most pertinent updates from the CDC include:
• “Cleaning with products containing soap or detergent reduces germs on surfaces by removing contaminants and may also weaken or damage some of the virus particles, which decreases risk of infection from surfaces.”
• “In most cases, fogging, fumigation, and wide-area or electrostatic spraying is not recommended as a primary method of surface disinfection and has several safety risks to consider.”
We issued a press release on Friday, April 9, which offers clear and detailed information about the role that surface cleaning and disinfection, proven products and equipment, and proper training play in reducing exposure to pathogens.
We also developed a new Straight Talk! episode, featuring Patty Olinger, GBAC Executive Director; Dr. Paul Meechan, formerly with the CDC; and Michael Diamond, Executive Director of The Infection Prevention Strategy (TIPS), that discusses the latest CDC changes and provides further clarification.

In April of 2021, the US Center for Disease Control (CDC) issued new guidance related to cleaning of surfaces and the use of disinfectants. Janitronics has been following the best practices identified by the CDC since the beginning of the pandemic. We also have been an integral component of a Boston-based health security task force to provide guidance to our stakeholders. We continue to be in alignment with the CDC, where they note that washing hands and using sanitizer is a priority. The statement continues: "Cleaning and disinfecting surfaces can also reduce the risk of infection" in a building.

A COVID-19 infected person is known to have been in the space
Low incidence of mask-wearing
Poor hand sanitation practices are observed
Space will be occupied by high-risk population (elderly, or pre-existing conditions)

With the recent approval of a COVID-19 vaccine, we have reached an important stage in the fight against the virus.
At Janitronics Building Services, we know our employees have many questions about vaccines, including when they will be eligible to receive a vaccine.
Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker recently announced the state’s approach to vaccine distribution, which prioritizes individuals and communities at highest risk. Vaccine distribution in Massachusetts will occur in a phased approach. We anticipate Janitronics employees will be able to participate in vaccination at phase two.

Keegan joins us having graduated from the University of Massachusetts Lowell with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and International Business in December. He will help to support our marketing, business development, administrative and information technology departments.

Janitronics is prepared to support the re-opening of the Commonwealth. Governor Baker has announced the implementation of a Four Phase Plan (link here) to provide for a safe, cautious, and responsible approach to returning to business as usual.
On May 25th, lab and office spaces in Massachusetts will be allowed to re-open (however, Boston offices must wait until June 1st). The existing Stay at Home Advisory will shift to a Safer at Home Advisory to encourage people to continue to work from home if possible, and for at-risk populations (for instance, over 65 years of age) to continue to avoid public spaces like offices and retail businesses.

Local and state governments across the country are instituting increasingly stringent restrictions on gathering to flatten the curve of the spread of COVID-19 throughout our communities. Janitronics Building Services continues to monitor the current reports and guidance from the CDC, WHO, and public health officials and implement their recommendations into our operations. With many of you instituting remote work policies within your organizations, we would like to provide updates on our continued operations in times of limited occupancy.
The current coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak continues to evolve and the World Health Organization (WHO) recently characterized COVID-19 as a pandemic. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is closely monitoring this situation and is working with state and local public health partners to respond to this rapidly evolving public health threat. Janitronics Building Services COVID-19 Committee continues to monitor the current reports and guidance from public health officials and implement their recommendations into our operations.
Janitronics Building Services is following developments, especially here in Massachusetts, to stay ahead of this emerging public health situation. The MA Dept. of Public Health is providing daily updates, which includes corporate meetings and associated confirmed cases from late February. The MA Dept. of Public Health asserts, “The risk of COVID-19 to the general public in Massachusetts remains low at this time.”
Win or lose, everyone is a winner on The Stars baseball team. Janitronics Building Services own Rafael Moscat, his fellow coaches and baseball team of teenagers, The Stars, traveled to the Dominican Republic, many for the first time, to compete with teenage baseball players from that country. For many, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit the country where many of their family members were born and fabulous baseball players are made. All of the money to fund this trip has been raised by the team and their coaches through donations and raffle ticket sales. Thank you Janitronics Building Services, Joe's American Bar & Grill in Dedham and Old Team Service for helping to fund this special trip. And congratulations to The Stars for all their determination, hard work and team spirit!

Scott Smarse joined our client services team in 2016 and has done an outstanding job supporting our Operations Team with multiple client portfolios. Scott has been promoted to Director of Client Services.
Tim Cullinan joined Janitronics as a Director of Client Services in 2015 and continues to build a strong presence within our client network. Tim will continue to research new business opportunities with existing clients as well as innovations in equipment and supplies that will help us lead the way in 2020 as Vice President of Client Relations.
Luis Nova joined Janitronics in 2006 and has spent most of his time working directly with key accounts in a suburban portfolio. Along with those responsibilities, Luis has been instrumental in helping implement and improve our payroll software and other rapidly changing technologies. Luis will now begin his role in Client Relations.

Taking place at the Fairmont Copley Plaza each year, Dunkin Brands looks to raise money to battle childhood hunger and illness. They have already raised millions of dollars Nationally through corporate, franchisee and consumer donations. The event raised over $550,000, significantly over their original fundraising goal.
It was a busy day of celebrations today as Janitronics Building Services enjoyed Ocktoberfest with MassBio in Cambridge and FallFest with BOMA Boston in Boston. Battle of the Biotech Bands is the only place you can see scientists, charity and rock bands together on one stage. It was a networking event truly unlike any other - an evening not to miss that our industry looks forward to every year. $120,000.00 was raised for local charities and bluebirdbio took home bragging rights.
The 2019 Building Impact NonGala annual event highlighted the community and corporate partners through the annual Impact Awards. This event raised funds for Building Impact's volunteer programming. Janitronics Building Services was happy to provide sponsorship support again this year.

Exciting news from our Client Partner, Sage Therapeutics. The FDA has approved Cambridge biopharma Sage Therapeutics' first product, a drug that the company says will be the first product specifically designed to treat postpartum depression.
Zulresso is Sage's (Nasdaq: SAGE) first product to reach the market and one of two treatments the company has developed to treat postpartum depression. Its second potential therapy, an oral medication known as SAGE 217, succeeded in a late-stage trial as a postpartum treatment and is also being evaluated as a potential major depressive disorder and bipolar disorder treatment.

Janitronics Building Services had a busy week full of giving and supporting community philanthropic causes. On Tuesday, November 27, we once again supported Boston Children’s Hospital Trust in their Annual fundraising Gala Champions for Children’s. This all-star gala fundraiser features Boston’s business leaders and sports teams—the Boston Bruins, Boston Cannons, Boston Celtics, Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and New England Revolution. Thanks to their support and generous sponsorships, over $55 million has been raised since 1997 benefiting the hospital’s areas of greatest need and making a life-changing impact on the lives of the countless children and families they serve.
Then on Wednesday November 28, Janitronics was hard at work helping to make the Annul Best of the Back Bay event at the Fairmont Copley as well as local participating local Back Bay Restaurants the best ever. This event developed by Back Bay Association helps them to further their mission to support the community.

Janitronics Building Services is thrilled to be growing with our client partner, MathWorks. This month they opened their new campus at 1 Lakeside Campus Drive, Natick MA. This complex of over 500,000 square feet of space will be the new home for many MathWorks current employees as well as support thier ongoing growth. Amenities include a state of the art Fitness Center, a Wellness Center, a Cafe and a Conference Center. Congratulations MathWorks!

Last night was the sixth Annual Building Impact NonGala. Building Impact is a nonprofit that supports other nonprofits with the goal of Strengthening Communities through Volunteering with Measurable Impact. This is done in three ways: Volunteering in Buildings, Volunteering in offices and through corporate days of service. It was originally founded by Kevin McCall and Paradigm Properties with 3 other founding partners, The Bulfinch Companies, National Development and The Davis Companies. Like any Nonprofit, Building Impact needed to come up with unique ways to raise money to work toward their mission. Six years ago, the NonGala concept was born; instead of people dressing up to come to a chicken dinner in a ballroom, Building Impact would mobilize the community by creating an event that supported their nonprofit partners through service projects done on site. The event also recognizes our partners in the building community and those who volunteer throughout the year.
As a member of the board of Building Impact, Dorrian volunteered to lead the efforts on the event the first year and then continued in that role for 5 years as the Host Committee Chair. During that time Building Impact raised over $300,000 and had over 1,500 volunteers. Dorrian decided last year would be her final year in that leadership role. At the event last night Building Impact surprised Dorrian with a recognition Award at the event for five years of service in this role.
Janitronics Building Services is happy to welcome two outstanding new buildings to our growing portfolio, 100 Federal Street, Boston, MA and Bay Colony Coprporate Center, Waltham, MA. Both buildings started on January 1, 2018. To transition about 2.5 million square feet simultaneously, Janitronics deployed a strategic plan utilizing a significant group of key Managers to train staff, deliver equipment and provide transition cleaning. All this careful planning and additional staffing for tranisition day led to a seamless operation and happy new tenants.
